Info: To mark the end of the exhibition The View from Inside, the artist Melissa Gordon will be present with the writer and curator Alicja Melzacka to give a tour of the exhibition and present their new publication Portals. Each of Gordon’s paintings in the exhibition The View from Inside, currently on view, emerges from a kinship: she photographs the open windows of female artists during studio visits. These windows then become the space for painterly abstractions. Portals is a publication including the text The Right Language by Alicja Melzacka, and an interview between Melissa Gordon and R.H. Quaytman, focusing on the body of paintings on display in The View from Inside. Melissa Gordon’s painting practice has been exhibited recently at Painting after Painting, SMAK, Gent, Belgium, WE. The body as a sign, Kunstmuseum Mülheim, Germany, Vital Signs, Kunsthall Oslo, Norway, Liquid Gestures, Towner Gallery, Eastbourne, United Kingdom. Her works are part of the collections of the SMAK in Gent, and the KANAL Pompidou in Brussels, where she will participate in the opening exhibition of the collection in 2026. Alicja Melzacka is a curator and writer who co-runs the space Celador in Brussels.
