Info: With Jalousie, Galerie 3AP presents a solo show by Sophie Esslinger at Wohnung Lauxtermann. The exhibition is presented at Wohnung Lauxtermann, an exhibition and residency project established in 2023 by Aileen Treusch, founder of Galerie 3AP. Located at the historical address of Fürstenwall 74, Düsseldorf, the project reactivates the site as a space for artistic production, research, and presentation, integrating living, working, and exhibiting. Between 2023 and 2025, Wohnung Lauxtermann engaged over thirty artists through collaborative and flexible formats that emphasized process, exchange, and temporary inhabitation. The program now enters a new phase of focused solo presentations. Sophie Esslinger’s exhibition, curated by Svenja Katharina Frisch, inaugurates this series, foregrounding individual artistic practice while engaging the site’s unique spatial and discursive conditions. Sophie Esslinger’s pictorial spaces emerge in the tension between opposites (inside and outside, body and cosmos) that remain in flux. Her works depict less an external world than condensations of subjective experience, where perception and projection are intertwined. Drawing remains a key element: lines, marks, and recurring motifs structure open spaces between abstraction and figuration. Perception, memory, and imagination overlap without producing a fixed reading.
