The Cave & the Cloud

Victor Vejle, Martin Hasfeldt, Mikkeline Daae, Maria Lindeblad, Sylvester Vogelius, Adam Varab, Tea Eklund Berglöw, Sofus Keiding-Agger, Peter Palluth, Christine Dahlerup, Theodor Nymark, Erik Hjørnevik, Ava Samii, Lukas Danys, Andreas Hatt, Erdal Bilici – The Class of Prof. Simon Dybbroe Møller at The Royal Danish Academy of Art with Manuel Graf

Info: Since 2019, the School of Sculpture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, under the leadership of artist Simon Dybbroe Møller, have examined the relationship between the weightiness of things and the flat logics of the photographic image by looking at the world through specific case studies. Their prism for the last academic year was the Museum Abteiberg in Mönchengladbach. Designed by Hans Hollein, this labyrinthine structure, entirely embedded in and protruding from its location, with its montage-like combinations of materials that frame its post WWII contents is an icon of postmodern museum architecture. To aid in this investigation, the artist Manuel Graf, himself invested in the space between digits and mud, conducted several workshops and seminars with the students analysing the ways that photography has profoundly influenced its seeming antithesis: sculpture. Contemporary art is dependent on documentation to prove that something did indeed take place in a specific place and time. More than simply replacing the need for art to faithfully represent, photography has radically changed how art is conceived, made, and apprehended. (…) Opening Hours: Saturdays from 2 pm to 6 pm.

Info: As part of Towards Photography, house of dgf (class of Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Kunstakademie Düsseldorf) presents (Cc:) an addi(c)tive exhibition about/around/against photography. (Cc:) an addi(c)tive exhibition about/around/against photography explores exhibition making as a durational format—spanning all of its 28 days—and centers around photography as a medium. Adding one work each day, the show will continuously grow and expand. To reverse the regular temporality of exhibitons, rather than celebrating the show’s opening, house of dgf invites to a closing finissage.

House of DGF: (Cc:) an addi(c)tive exhibition about/around/against photography

So — 28. Juli 2024 17:00—22:00 Uhr

Aaron Nora Kappenberger, Amber Theisen, Bene Rox, Benjamin Jakob Enders, Hannah Nelsen, Inyoung Jung, Karisma Ekeh, Laura Clemens (Diarin Lanczado), Lea Frensch, Matthias Theis, Paul Julian Geschwind, Rabea Chatha, Roland Sonnabend, zhaoyuefan – house of dgf (class of Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Kunstakademie Düsseldorf)

Info: As part of the series Towards Photography, DFI e.V. invites you to the finissage of the exhibition (Cc:), presented by the class Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster from Kunstakademie Düsseldorf: With (Cc:)an addi(c)tive exhibition about/around/against photography – we explore exhibition making as a durational format. Spanning July 1st to 28th, everything shown and happening in the space centers around the idea of photography as a medium. Through the practice of adding one work each day, the show has been continuously growing and expanding throughout the last weeks. There is a constant notion of transfer, build up, space questions and curatorial communication, while every change is carefully documented in photography. The last day of the exhibition will be the only opportunity to see the exhibition as a whole, an event to which we warmly invite you to celebrate with us; this uncommon finissage, this matter of reversed temporalities.
