Info: This lecture focuses on photographs in which Yayoi Kusama poses as part of her artworks. This manner of posing differs from most artist portraits, which show artists in front of or next to their artworks. Kusama’s portrait photos are closely connected to her vision of the human being as part of networks. The accumulations that characterize her artistic oeuvre not only align with artistic strategies of repetition in modern art but also evoke associations with current views on networks that consist not only of people but also of interactions with matter and the natural environment.
