Return

Simone Lucas

Info: Simone Lucas’ work impresses with its mystical and enigmatic visual worlds, which evoke memories and associations, but have little in common with the real world. The protagonists accompany us through timeless and spaceless scenes. Sometimes without looking at the viewer, or noticing the other figures in the picture. They are part of a cosmos of their own, in which they act silently, albeit naturally. We find them in places reminiscent of study halls, studios and living spaces, or fused with motifs from the animal and plant world. Return is Simone Lucas’ fourth exhibition at Galerie Rupert Pfab and combines paintings from a new group of works, showing extended nature studies and fantastical, hybrid creatures which seem to have been derived from the world of fantasy or fairy tales. The treatment of color and the sometimes haptic application of paint are always visible in the paintings, which also make tangible use of the color’s structure as a material. (…)
