In Ergänzung und Verbesserung II, Michael van Ofen continues his exploration of history as image and construction. Van Ofen’s paintings begin with existing images, yet they resist reconstruction or nostalgic imitation. What emerges is neither abstraction nor historical reenactment, but a precise examination of how images produce meaning. By stripping away illusionistic completeness, van Ofen exposes the mechanisms of representation itself.
