Lukas Heerich

Info: Join us for our final exhibition, 11 by Lukas Heerich. The show 11 alludes to the twelfth archetype, the Jester. It marks the end of the hero’s journey. The Jester does not seek to solve the story’s problem. His main purpose on the journey is the journey itself. The outcome rarely matters to him, and in some cases, he may even be a bit of a devil’s advocate in the interest of spicing things up. Also known as the clown, trickster, comedian, practical joker or the fool, the Jester is an archetype that is at peace with the paradoxes of the world. He/She uses humor to illuminate hypocrisy, and also levels the playing field between those of power and those without. He/She uses humor to reveal, heal and even hide the depths of the human soul. Lukas Heerich’s work probes the tensions between protection and isolation, power and vulnerability. His sculptures, installations, and sound pieces interweave deep research with spontaneous insights, creating layered works that embrace ambivalence and contradiction. Clinging to each translucent skin is the debris of actual lived experience – the smears and gunk that map the unique geography of each wearer’s face. Heerich makes these traces central to his piece, forcing us to confront the organic residue left on the synthetic facade.
