Info: SETAREH X is pleased to announce the duo exhibition Queen takes King by Anna Nero and Denise Werth. Both artistic positions convince through painterly as well as sculptural sophistication. On closer examination, the works of both artists contain objectness and corporeality as well as allusive, ironic and even sexual connotations. The works also play with the contrast between handwriting and technical perfection. The exhibition title, derived from chess jargon, can indeed be understood as a feminist statement and finds a correspondence in the grid structures and titles of Anna Nero’s paintings and Denise Werth’s sculptures.
