Kim Stolz

Info: Kim Stolz’s first solo exhibition at Lucas Hirsch presents a new body of work that probes the quiet tension between form and the fleeting moment. Using watercolor, gouache, and acrylics, Stolz constructs layered images that deconstruct familiar elements, inviting contemplation of light and movement rather than depiction. Her paintings, created with minimal layering and gestural strokes, challenge viewers to see beyond the represented form and into the spatial relationships and rhythms of the composition. Foregoing traditional framing or heavy structures, Stolz captures intersections of shadow and light where no element overtakes another, guiding the eye instead toward balance and presence within the pared-down composition. (…) The title of the exhibition quotes a song by Hildegard Knef.
