Info: For her second solo show at Galerie Droste, artist Eve Malherbe presents a selection of seven paintings in which color steals its most beautiful role to the subject. Rising to the rank of protagonist, it generously spreads out in mimetic, acidulous waves. The only narrative canvas in this series, Amor serves as a framework for the other works, which gradually dispense with staging and become embodied in an additional abstraction. Around Amor, like a progression, everything seems to unravel into strata, guiding us towards a zone where the boundaries between flower and fabric become increasingly blurred. It’s also the story of a world, the one that comes after Eden, where a cloak covers shame and solitude imposes itself on human beings now forsaken by each other and on bouquets of cut flowers, deprived of their roots.
